There isnt much you could tell Antonio Diaz about the sport of boxing. He is a fighter with over fifty professional bouts under his belt, he has seen it all before and has faced the worlds best in doing so. Fighters such as Sugar Shane Mosely, Micky Ward, Ivan Robinson and the list goes on and on.

Up next for Antonio is Victor Ortiz on December 12th, he was originally down to face Zab Judah but when negotiaions broke down, in stepped one of boxings hottest prospects Victor Ortiz and a win here for Antonio would add another scalp to an already impressive record and one which could open more doors with another potential title fight later down the road.

We had a brief chat with him last week, where he took some time out of training to talk to us, here's what he had to say:

Can you tell us how you got started in boxing?

I was 10 yrs old and I followed my older brother to the gym

Who has been your biggest influence throughout your boxing career so far?

My family  

For some of the people who have yet to see you fight could you please describe your fighting style? 

Aggressive puncher

What would you say is your best punch?

Left Hook 

What do you consider to be your strengths and weaknesses?

Strengths is my power weaknesses wanting to make a war every fight. 

Throughout your Amateur / professional career you have achieved some great things but which of them would be your proudest achievement?

Making it to Madison Square Gardens and fight Shane Mosley. 

Can you take us through a typical training day on a run up to a big fight?

Well I get up at 5:30am and run for an hour then I go home and rest. I have Breakfast then I chill till 1:00pm after that I go train. I train for 3 hours then I stay in the gym and i work with the kids at the club. that is my full time job. I get out of the gym at 7:30pm then I go home and rest. 

Pound 4 Pound:

Who in your opinion is the world’s current Pound 4 Pound king? Do you believe Floyd Mayweather Jr had done enough in his fight with Juan Manuel Marquez to merit the top spot or do you still believe Manny is sitting on top? Or do you believe someone else as that right?

I really think is Mayweather

Manny Pacquiao v Miguel Cotto:

November 12th will of course stage the super fight between Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao. How do you see that fight going?

I think Pacquiao is too quick for Cotto

Professional Career:

You are currently on a seven fight winning streak which includes a good win last time out against Javier Castro. What did you know about Javier going into the fight and how do you believe the fight unfolded?

I knew nothing just that he was a power puncher.

You took some time away from boxing in 2005 and returned in 2008. Why the layoff and what made you come back to the sport?

I was getting bored then after 3 years I got the spark back when I saw my younger brother julio training and getting ready for his fights

Throughout your career you have faced some of the best fighters in the sport which includes the likes of Sugar Shane Mosely, Cory Spinks, Ivan Robinson and Micky Ward. Which of your wins have been your most satisfying and which would you say was your most difficult fight?

Most Satisfying would be Micky Ward and the most difficult would be Shane Mosely 

You are scheduled to face the hot prospect Victor Ortiz on December 12th in Chicago could you tell us how that fight came about and could you also tell us why the Zab Judah fight fell through?

The fight with Ortiz was something I never expected but it was offered to us so we took it because its a good fight for us.the  Zab Judah fight fell through because he said the money wasn't right.

Victor Ortiz is coming off a loss over Marcos Maidana, What do you expect from him on December 12th and how do you plan to fight him?

I think he is going to box and stay away so im going to pressure him.

At this point in your professional career what would be your dream fight?

Right now I really don't care who I fight as long as I get good fights.

FUTURE

What are your plans for 2009/2010?

I plan to get a chance for the WBC title at welterweight or Jr. welterweight
