|Ashley Theophane was introduced to boxing through his father who would occasionally let him watch the big events from across the pond (America). Seeing two warriors compete in front of thousands gave Ashley the dream of one day emulating those main event fighters.
“The Treasure” as he is known in the boxing world is a fighter whose progress I personally have followed since the late part of 2005 where I first caught a glimpse of this man’s skills. In that fight I remember him outpointing David Kehoe in Hammersmith to a point’s decision where after that he went on an eleven fight unbeaten streak.
Throughout that time the biggest name on his resume was Alan Bosworth who he stopped in the seventh of a scheduled ten round contest. In 2012 as we look back Ashley is a fighter who is starting to realise his full potential and with it has started to add the big named scalps of fighters like former world champion DeMarcus “Chop Chop” Corley, Delvin Rodriguez, and of course lenny Daws who he beat for the British title, perhaps you could also argue that he beat Danny Garcia even if the judges at ringside that night didn’t think so.
We caught up with the man himself this week and he’s given us a tremendous Interview relating to everything boxing and a few things in between.
