Topclassboxing.co.uk: Your Full Name
Nguyen Tien Dat Topclassboxing.co.uk: How are you and How’s Training Going?
I’m doing fine at the moment. I’m really glad to be training in Florida and having Buddy McGirt in my corner. Buddy was a great champion and he knows what it’s like to be a fighter. Buddy could see what I don’t see when I’m in the ring. I’ve recently signed with Cappiello Promotions and I’m excited to be fighting again. Topclassboxing.co.uk: Who has been your hardest opponent so far in your career? Nguyen Tien Dat: So far my 3rd fight was my toughest. There were some reasons to that as well. I haven’t been training in the gym and took the fight on two weeks notice thinking it would be easy. To my surprise, He toke my vicious punches and was almost out but he was as determined to win and fought back hard. That fight taught me a valuable lesson to never under estimate anyone and come to fight at 100%. Topclassboxing.co.uk: Who do you think is the man in your weight division (other than you of course)
The man that’s standing out is Manny Pacquiao. He’s not technically a skilled fighter but he has a big hearts and is hungry to win. He come to fight in tremendous shape and is very entertaining to watch. Manny is well-liked because he’s very humble. I see his greatest attribute is his speed. Speed to me is blinding power. Topclassboxing.co.uk: Who’s been the biggest influence in your career?
I don’t have anyone that really influences on my career. I’m all alone in this brutal sport and that what drives me to accomplish something great. I know deep down that I’ve got the talent and the heart to be a champion and I want to see how far I can go. I’m confident that I’ve the tools to stand with those top fighters out there. Topclassboxing.co.uk: What’s your biggest attribute in the ring e.g. Speed, Power, Movement etc I’m a well- rounded fighter. I can box and brawl when it’s needed to win. I’m not afraid to take a punch and give it back harder. I’ve power in both hands and my all-in or nothing mentally is what makes me exciting to watch. Topclassboxing.co.uk: What is your biggest accomplishment in the ring?
My biggest accomplishment so far would have to come from the amateur. I was ranked among the top elite athletes in USA Boxing and was one of the Olympic hopeful. I’m just glad that I’m over with fighting for trophy and have learned the tools to be a great pro. Topclassboxing.co.uk: Who was the fighter you looked up to as a kid?
I used to like Oscar De La Hoya but he’s not as hungry as a fighter as he once used to be. I like Kostya Tszyu and Roberto Duran for their relentless style. Topclassboxing.co.uk: Who in your opinion is the P4P number 1?
I would say Floy Mayweather Jr. because for him to be fighting at 125 lbs. in the Olympic and has dominated all the weight classes up to 147lbs. That’s quite an accomplishment. Topclassboxing.co.uk: What are your plans for 2007? Right now I’ve two fights lined up for this year and that what I like to know so I could be well prepared. For 2007, I would like more numbers to be under my record and be among the prospect. I would also like an opportunity to fight on TV so my fans can see what I’m all about. |
