WEEKEND PREDICTIONS!!!

Friday, May 29, 2009

There are a couple of big fights happening this weekend where major titles could potentially change hands.

The big fight in the Welterweight division see's WBC champ Andre Berto defend his title against the always tough and rugged Juan Urango. Both men are quite evenly matched with many insiders looking for an absolute gem of a fight so this is one not to be missed.

Berto is a fighter who is still unbeaten throughout his professional career and has racked up 24 wins at the time of writing. Within those wins he has beaten the likes of David Estrada, Steve Forbes and perhaps his most impressive victory last time out against the dangerous Luis Collazo. One thing is almost certain with Andre and that is he always comes in to fights in shape and ready for action and is a fighter who has a very attractive style to his game and always gives 100%.

The man who will look to dethrone him is Juan Urango. He is of Colombian nationality but has moved to Hollywood in the hope of capturing bigger fights while getting exposure from the American fight fans. He is a fighter many of you know from his fight with Ricky Hatton, In that fight Juan was decisioned over twelve hard fought rounds which showed the ruggedness and the will to win of this fighter to stay in there with a massive puncher of Hatton's caliber. That was his only loss of his career so far and when he steps onto the world stage on Saturday night you can guarantee fireworks as he will look to put that fight firmly behind him in front of a packed Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Could there be a potential upset on the cards?

The other massive title fight comes from Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland of all places. This is the venue that will stage the big heavyweight match up between the 7 foot Giant of Nicolay Valuev and The man they named the "White Tyson" Ruslan Chagaev. This is a rematch of their 2007 encounter which witnessed Chagaev come out on top of a majority decision at the Porsche-Arena in Stuttgart, Germany which at the time was a massive shock. This promises to be another fascinating fight with the winner being no obvious pick. Can Jack (Ruslan) cut down the Giant (Valuev) again?

As well as these two massive match ups the fight fans will also be able to see two of the biggest punchers in the Light middleweight division go head to head which is another that promises to be a war when the red hot prospect Alfredo Angulo takes a step up in class to face former world champion Kermit Cintron. Angulo is a fighter you may have seen from our 2009 Prospect of 2009 section, what happens on Saturday gauges if our choice was correct at the start of the year.

With these fights and many many more we have a great weekend in store for us.

He is extremely fast with fast hands and an excellent jab. He is a very good fighter and Anthony is at the stage of his career when he wants to take on the best in the middleweight division and as mandatory challenger he has earned his right to fight for the WBA title. It would be a superb fight and hopefully will take place in 2009.”

DAWSON VACATES IBF TITLE!!!

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

Light Heavyweight king Chad Dawson has informed the International Boxing Federation (IBF) of his decision to vacate the title, effective immediately.

“The IBF rejected our request for an exception to making an immediate title defense against mandatory challenger Tavoris Cloud and inasmuch as no major television network was willing to buy the fight, the IBF left us little choice,” said Shaw. “I respect the IBF’s decision but the fight they were forcing us to do was commercially unviable. On behalf of Chad, we thank the IBF for the opportunity to fight for its title and to defend it. It’s an honor Chad will always cherish. Now it’s on to bigger and better. Chad looks forward to defending his International Boxing Organization title against the cream of the crop and unencumbered.”

TYSON'S DAUGHTER ON LIFE SUPPORT!!!

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

Heavyweight legend Mike Tyson's 4-year-old daughter is on life support after she was found with her neck on a treadmill cable Monday, police said.

The girl's 7-year-old brother found her on a treadmill with her neck on a cable attached to the exercise machine at their Phoenix home, police Sgt. Andy Hill said, calling it a "tragic accident."

The boy told the girl's mother, who was in another room. She took the girl off the cable, called 911 and tried to revive her.

Responding officers and firefighters performed CPR on the girl as they rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was in "extremely critical condition" and on life support, Hill said.

"Somehow she was playing on this treadmill, and there's a cord that hangs under the console — it's kind of a loop," Hill said. "Either she slipped or put her head in the loop, but it acted like a noose, and she was obviously unable to get herself off of it."

Hill said former heavyweight champion Tyson had been in Las Vegas but flew to Phoenix immediately after learning of the accident.

Tyson could not immediately be reached for comment.

MAYWEATHER - MARQUEZ LA PRESSER!!!

Wednesday, May 20, 2009

Floyd Mayweather jr and Juan Manuel Marquez made their first stop of the media tour on Monday in downtown Los Angeles to announce their battle taking place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV on July 18.

Floyd Mayweather Jr

“That’s right. I’m back and you can all get ready for another chapter of the Mayweather experience!,” said Mayweather. “I told my CEO Leonard Ellerbe from the start that I wanted to come back fighting the best fighters out there and Juan Manuel Marquez is one of the best in boxing today.”

When asked what made him come back to the sweet science he simply answered.

“I missed the sport.”

“I am not overlooking Marquez so I hope he doesn’t overlook me either. Just because I have been retired doesn’t mean I will be rusty,” proclaimed ‘Money’ Mayweather. “I am not here to rate myself. I let the fans and the media to decide that.”

There were rumors circulating the Internet about Mayweather getting a high $15 million dollar payday for his return, negotiations with Don King for future bouts and a possible fight with Manny Pacquiao.

“It doesn’t matter how much I make. We fight for checks not bragging rights.”

“Yeah! I talked to Don King, he’s a well-respected guy. It’s not a crime to talk to someone.”

“Manny is good but people are forgetting Erik Morales was able to beat him. He has gotten knocked out before so anything is possible but right now I am focusing on Marquez, he’s a top notch fighter. This is no tune up fight.”

Juan Manuel Marquez

“This is the most difficult fight for me, but is not impossible,” said Marquez as he addressed the media. “I am training in the mountains of Mexico, this is one of the strategies we’re using to help with my weight. I am also lifting rocks to build strength.”

When asked what techniques one can use against the undefeated (39-0, 25 KOs) Mayweather Jr.

“Luis Castillo was one of the few who almost defeated Mayweather. Nacho Beristain is studying the fight and we have determined that being aggressive and gaining speed is the key to beat Floyd.”

“Floyd is the number one pound for pound and that is why I agreed to fight him at welterweight. I am very happy with the results of my career and I am happy for this opportunity but most of all I am confident I could beat Mayweather.”

Tickets go on sale Friday, May 22 at 10 a.m. and are priced at $1,000, $750, $600, $300 and $150. Tickets can be purchase at all Ticketmaster outlets and MGMGrand.com.

MIRANDA'S TRAINER DENIES ILLEGAL SUBSTANCE!!!

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

Jose Bonilla The trainer of Edison Miranda yesterday claimed that the brown bottle found in his fighters corner on the weekend was nothing but petroleum jelly and a common coagulant.

The boxing commission at time of writing is still testing the substance that was concealed in a plastic bag with results scheduled to appear next week.

The two substances that Bonilla claim he used were Petroleum Jelly and Adrenalin which are both commonly used by boxing trainers to stop cuts and slow swelling during fights. Adrenalin constricts blood vessels, while petroleum jelly also is frequently rubbed on a fighter's face to lessen the impact of blows and to fill cuts.

These procedures were approved by commission officials in the locker room according to Bonilla

MARQUEZ: MAYWEATHER IS POUND 4 POUND KING!!!

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

Juan Manuel Marquez sat down with reporters yesterday in downtown L.A and explained how he intends to beat the former Pound 4 Pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr and why he regards Floyd not Pacquiao as the best fighter in the world.

“I have already got a good game plan for Mayweather, and I am building a lot of muscle,” Marquez said I am working out lifting different rocks and to get my body ready for the fight because strength will be one of the keys this time and I am confident I will be able to match him.

“Floyd has a very different style and he is harder to hit than Pacquiao. But we are working on different combinations so I can land punches and break through that defense.”

Mayweather retired as pound-for-pound king before returning for this match-up, and Pacquiao, the current incumbent of that mythical throne, is the hottest topic in boxing. But Marquez has no doubt which fighter is the more deserving of the top spot.

“In my opinion Floyd is No.1,” Marquez said. “He is still unbeaten and still No.1. Pacquiao has never truly beaten me, I feel that in my heart. I want to fight the best and that is why I wanted to fight Floyd.”

SUSPICIOUS SUBSTANCE TAKEN FROM MIRANDA'S CORNER!!!

Monday, May 18, 2009

The California State Commission seized a brown tub from Edison Miranda's corner on Saturday night. At the time of writting the contents of the tub which was allegedly hidden in a bag was unknown.

Trainer Virgil Hunter said the substance was in a brown bottle resembling a Vaseline tub apparently hidden in a bag in Miranda's corner. When Miranda's corner men were spotted taking the substance out of the bag around the fourth or fifth rounds of the fight at Oakland's Oracle Arena, it was seized before officials actually saw it given to Miranda,

Promoter Dan Goossen said after the fight "I don't want to jump to any conclusions right now, That's why I didn't say anything (Saturday). There's nothing worse than taking away from a good victory by putting the focus on something else.''

Robert Stieglitz scored an impressive ten round decision over the hard-hitting Jindrich Velecky. In the bout it was clear to see the German fighter was too strong, powerful and accurate for the out gunned Velecky.

Jan Zaveck scored a easy victory over Arek Malek from Poland as he cruised to a six round decision.

Oliver Güttel was held to a draw by Anthony Ukeh from Nigeria.

Undefeated heavyweight Kevin “Kingpin” Johnson (22-0-1, 9 KOs) scored a sixth round TKO over previously unbeaten 2004 Olympic team captain Devin Vargas (17-1, 7 KOs) on Friday night at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City, NJ. Vargas pressed the action early on, but Johnson dropped Vargas with a barrage of punches at the end of rounds three and five, in round six Vargas’ corner threw in the towel to save their beaten fighter. Time was 2:23.

Lightweight Jorge “The Truth’ Teron (23-1-1, 15 KOs) scored a ten round unanimous decision over Aldo Valtierra (25-11, 13 KOs). Scores were 96-94, 97-93, 99-91.

Bruce Seldon (40-7, 35 KOs) stopped Gabe Brown (18-10-4, 12 KOs) in round five.

Light heavyweight Chuck Mussachio (13-0-2, 5 KOs) scored a six round decision over former WBA light middleweight champion Carl Daniels (50-16-1, 32 KOs).

Former WBO junior welterweight champion Ricardo Torres (33-2, 29 KOs) defeated Raul Pinzon (16-3, 15 KOs) by way of 10th round TKO at the Hotel Prado Mar in Puerto, Colombia. Torres was knocked down in rounds 4 and 7 but Torres dropped the very tired Pinzon on three occasions in the final round to stop the contest.

WEEKEND PREDICTIONS!!!

Friday, May 15, 2009

The Oracle Arena in Oakland, California will be the host for this Saturday's big fight which will witness Red hot prospect Andre Ward going head to head with his most dangerous opponent so far in the always aggressive Colombian Edison Miranda. These two fighters when compared are like night and day. What I mean by this statement is the fact Miranda is very outspoken fighter and loves to get inside his opponents mind always looking for that chink in the armour while Ward is well spoken very reserved kind of laid back fighter often seen praising his opponents accomplishments beforehand but one who likes to do most of his talking in the ring. In terms of styles Miranda has an aggressive style and comes at fighters like a caged animal always looking to knock his opponents out early. Ward is totally different and will cautiously think out the fight designing a game plan in his head before using his boxing skills to record a victory.

Andre Ward is a very underrated fighter who is often overlooked by casual fight fans become he hasn't had that kind of exposure his talents deserve but this fight could change that perception on Saturday if he adds Miranda to his impressive record. The public got their first glimpse of Andre when he took the Olympic gold for Team USA at Athens in 2004. In the games many were throwing around names from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus as the fighters most likely to capture Gold and Andre was at times overlooked. This seemed to work for Andre as he went through the rounds with ease beating Clemente Russo in the second round by 17 point to 9, Evgeny Makarenko of Russia by 23-16 the Uzbekistan's Utkirbek Haydarov by 17-15 in the semi finals before he breezed past Magomed Aripgadjiev to capture the gold by a score of 20-13. Many tipped this American golden boy to be the countries hope for years to come in the amateur ranks but instead Andre opted to go professional in December of 2004 and in truth has never looked back. At the time of writing this young man's record stands at 18 wins without loss and I for one think this man could potentially reach the very pinnacle of the sport. Before that can happen though he will need to get past his most formidable opponent so far

Edison Miranda in my opinion is one of best characters in boxing who you can always count on for fireworks at each and every one of his fights. The Colombian hard hitter currently holds a record of 31 wins with only three losses. I may just add two of these losses are to IBF Middleweight champion Arthur Abraham while the other was against the Middleweight king Kelly Pavlik. Miranda is one of those fighters that loves to humiliate his foes before entering the ring kind of like the strategy Ricardo Mayorga has used in the past. He loves to get into his opponents head before a fight looking to mentally break a fighter before hand and lets face the fact that it's worked on a number of occasions throughout his career. Miranda is by no means just a talker though and one who can usually back up his statements with a knockout or stoppage. He holds massive power and will definitely be the most dangerous man Ward as ever faced. Which has left me with an headache of a prediction to make.

As well as this fascinating match up we have the the WBC cruiserweight title defence from Italy's Giacobbe Fragomeni who will look to stop the challenge of former world champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk and Friday night see's three of Britain's brightest talents make their second professional fight's as James DeGale, Billy Joe Sanders and Frankie Gavin all look to make a statement at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast

With these fights and many many more we have a great weekend in store for us.

WARD - MIRANDA FINAL PRESSER!!!

Friday, May 15, 2009

ANDRE WARD:

“(Edison Miranda) is an opponent that is trying to intimidate me. I’ve done my part and prepared for this fight, specifically for Miranda. I’ve been training since I was 9-years-old ... I have been preparing for nights like Saturday.”

“What you see with me is what you get. I’m not going to pick up chairs and throw them out of anger. I’m a God-fearing man. The message I want to pass on to kids is that you don’t have to live like that in order to be successful.”

“Don’t get my intensity wrong, I won’t be intimidated by this man. I have seen a lot of blood sweat and tears to get to this point. Professionally, this is the biggest stage in my career and I won’t shy away from it. This is the biggest fight for me to date and it has the pressure that is needed for me.”

“He tried to stare me down right now and anyone who knows boxing knows that that was the first round.”

“When I get that first heavy shot, know that I am prepared. I am ready to hit and not get hit, but when you get hit, you snarl and come back. Miranda’s knockouts in his career were against small guys, everyone can make the boogie man of Miranda, but I am not going to be intimated or bullied. I don’t fear any man.”

“Edison Miranda has a lot of knockout work against smaller guys. Any man can lose, no one is invincible but in his loses he has shown vulnerability in his chin. If you have seen one of Miranda’s fights you‘ve seen them all – I don’t think he will have any tricks up his sleeve.”

“The night before and the day before the fight I spend a lot of time to myself, read my bible, focusing on what I need to do. I don’t think it will go 12. A victory here would make the mandatory against Carl Froch in nine months.”

EDISON MIRANDA:

“At the Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao fight they did too much talking before the fight but when you get into the ring you see what happened. I’m done talking with the press now I just want to fight.”

“The reason I came to Oakland is because boxing is dying. Boxing has only had two nights. One good one and one bad one. Worse was when Tyson was knocked out by Buster Douglas and good when Muhammad Ali was born.”

“You need a boxer with a big heart--a warrior to bring back boxing where it belongs. Come Saturday night God will give me the victory. I have a pact with God and he told me that I would win the fight on Saturday. Be aware of this fight, because it will likely end in a quick moment. So don’t be surprised.”

“This is not a game or a joke, God told me that I was going to win. I said it before in the past that I am going to knock him out but now I am tired of talking and now it’s time to act. I just want to get in the ring and do my God-given destiny and that’s to win on Saturday.”

“I have fought 33 fights and have lost to only two (Arthur Abraham twice and Kelly Pavlik once). They were top middleweights in the world. The public only looks at my losses and not my victories.”

“I only fight for the money I know that I will never get the respect that I deserve to be recognized as the greatest.”

“Everyone says I have a lot of errors and defects when they watch me but those that know the game inside the ring, know that I don’t make errors. Boxing fans know that I am going to knock him out.”

JOHN MOLINA JR.:

“I’ve been training hard with my usual intensity. I’ve worked with (trainer Joe) Goossen on strategy. There is very little film on Archuleta but I know that he is tricky. Whether he will try to attack or box me early I don’t know. He will try to you his experience, that much I know.”

FRANKIE ARCHULETA:

“John Molina is a great fighter and good challenge for me. I’m impressed with him but there are a lot of things I can do to beat him. Molina isn’t counting on my experience in the ring and I think that will hurt him in the end.”

SHAWN ESTRADA:

“This is my fifth fight and I’ve trained hard for it. I am going to go into the ring with the same intensity that I have my last four fights.“

“I am a gentleman outside of the ring but when I am in the ring it is a completely different story – I become a monster. I act instinctually in there.”

“A fighter always wants a knockout but I won’t say that I’m looking for it. If a knock out comes while I am in the ring with Cory Jones then it comes.”

The event will be promoted by Goossen Tutor Promotions in association with Leonard Productions. The Ward-Miranda bout will be presented in association with Seminole Warriors Boxing.

Tickets, starting at $25 are on sale at the Oracle Box Office (Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m., and Saturday starting at 10 a.m.), online through Ticketmaster atwww.ticketmaster.com or by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000 or through Ticketmaster Outlets at the following outlet partners: select Macy’s stores and select Ritmo Latino stores.

RAY HATTON ADMITS RICKY SHOULD HAVE PULLED OUT!!!

Thursday, May 14, 2009

RAY HATTON admits his son Ricky should never have fought Manny Pacquiao. Ray insists the Hitman was in not in the right frame of mind to fight after his training camp descended into disarray.

Hatton Snr said: "Richard's never pulled out of a fight, never disappointed the fans. But in hindsight, if the truth be known, he probably would have been right to make this the first one he pulled out of. It doesn't take anything away from Manny as he's a great, great fighter. But for me, personally, that wasn't my son in that ring."

Team Hatton admit things were not right in the build-up to the Pacquiao showdown with trainer Floyd Mayweather Snr and assistant coach Lee Beard failing to get along.

And Hatton Snr believes the outcome would have been different if things had gone more smoothly.

He added: "It could have been a lot, lot better — massively better. I'm very disappointed with some of the things I heard and very disappointed in some of the things I personally saw. I had reservations early on and it wasn't by any means ideal. I'm not making excuses about the performance but I think the fans know Richard and they know what we're all about."

Mayweather insists the hammering Hatton took at the MGM Grand was down to the Mancunian ignoring his instructions.

And the American, who has not spoken to his fighter since that fateful night, also points the finger at Beard.

He said: "You have to listen to your corner, simple as that. And like I said once before, there was turmoil in the camp. It showed up in the fight — but not because of me. It showed up because he had another person training him when I wasn't around and sometimes when I was around. He guided Ricky in the wrong way."

JUAN DIAZ TO GRADUATE!!!

Thursday, May 14, 2009

Former world champion Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz will graduate this coming Sunday (17th May) with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science during the University’s commencement ceremonies at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas.

“This feels like I’m becoming a world champion for the first time, it’s that big of an accomplishment to me,” said Diaz. “After going through school all of the years, it feels like a huge burden has lifted off of my back. I’m going to take the rest of this year and next year to focus on boxing and see where it takes me, but I’m also going to take the LSAT review course and apply to Law School so that I always have that as an option in the future.”

In addition to receiving his degree, Diaz was honored last week with an academic achievement award from the social sciences department at UHD for students who demonstrated scholastic excellence as well as a commitment to their field of study.

DEGALE PLANNING TO PROVE THE CRITICS WRONG!!!

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

Olympic gold medalist James DeGale has promised to prove his critics wrong on Friday night when he goes head to head with the unbeaten Czech Jindrich Kubin at Belfast's Odyssey Arena.

Degale told PA Sport: "I've experienced a professional fight once now and I know what it's like. Even the entrance, getting in there, wearing no top, the ring lights - everything changes in the big occasion. But I've felt it now and I'm just going to get better and better.

"Don't worry, everyone - I'm not going to be just this silly little idiot who thinks he's 'it', who has been to the Olympics, won a gold medal and come back thinking he's 'it'. That isn't me, trust me.

"That's why I want to try to hold it down a bit; stop all the talking, stop all the chatting, stop running the mouth and prove it to people by doing what I've got to do in the ring."

He added: "In the first fight I learned about the crowd, how they aren't always nice and how the press aren't always nice. So I learned a bit in the ring and also outside the ring."

wARD - MIRANDA PUBLIC WORKOUT QUOTES!!!

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

ANDRE WARD:

“I am amped and ready to go, but I know I have to stay on track. (But) In terms of maintaining focus, I am fine and locked in on what I have to do. Saturday is going to be a beautiful night, walking into and leaving the ring. I really appreciate the support I am getting from family, friends and fans. It has all been awesome".

“My aunt Sandy (Boos) bought 100-150 tickets off the top just to make sure all my family and friends are covered and that they would get tickets without a problem. Big or small, it is fantastic to get this kind of support. A lot of fighters never see this kind of support.

“I don’t know how the fight is going to play out, but the bottom line is I will do anything and everything I have to do to get a victory.

“Everybody, Miranda included, may be surprised how much I am going to be front of him. I think everybody thinks I am going to box and move. But I am not going to fight passively.

“I only need to maintain for another couple days. I can’t wait for Saturday.’’

EDISON MIRANDA:

“When I first heard I had a chance to fight Ward, I wasn’t exactly excited because for me this is about work and my career. Yes, this is a great opportunity for me. But let’s remember that it is a better opportunity for him because I am the one who’s fought the boxers with the biggest names.

“Fighting in Oakland won’t make a difference. This is a fight, whether it is in his hometown or mine. The point is, this is boxing and you have to be able to fight no matter where you go. There are no easy fights. This fight isn’t really about Ward’s strengths. I’ve fought a lot tougher fighters, all with different styles – some were boxers, others were punchers. I can deal with anything. Nothing he can do will faze me.

“I feel I have been overlooked and haven’t received as much respect as maybe I deserve, especially if you look at my record, the fighters I’ve been in with and all the different countries where I have fought. I always fight with the same courageous behavior no matter who I’m against of where the fight is".

“I feel more comfortable at 168 pounds. I feel my power is greater. I don’t think the media realizes how much strength you have when you’re comfortable.

“I do not have anything to prove to anybody but myself. You’ll see who is standing at the end.’’

HATTON STILL UNDECIDED ON FUTURE!!!

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

Ricky Hatton says he has still not decided whether he will retire from boxing or not after his shocking knockout defeat against Manny Pacquiao.

In the aftermath of the Pacquiao fight many sport stars have added their opinion on wether the Hitman should retire with the majority saying he should leave the sport after failing twice to reach the elusive pound 4 pound spot.

Hatton though is still undecided and told reporters yesterday "I'm just going to have a holiday with my family then I'll make the decision, I've been very down needless to say. It was very embarrassing but it's not exactly doom and gloom. When my mind's in a little bit better form and certainly a bit clearer then I'll make a decision. No-one planned that result but this is boxing. I'm still not in the right frame of mind to make a big decision like that just yet."

However, Hatton seems intent on moving into promoting and it seems that he would find it extremely hard to get back into training for any further fights.

"After being a champion yourself the next best thing to replace being a champion would be to give back some of the happiness I got from the sport, I think it's clear what my intentions are in promoting - to try to be the best.

"As far as carrying on fighting, I'm going to go away with my family, get my head in a nicer place and make a very, very important decision."

THOUSANDS WELCOME PACQUIAO BACK HOME!!!

Tuesday, May 12, 2009

Thousands lined the streets of Manila yesterday to welcome home their hero Manny Pacquiao fresh of his annihilation of Ricky Hatton.

Government officials requested Pacquiao stay in America after his win over Hatton due to the fears of swine flu but Pacquiao still got a welcome from Philippine President Gloria Arroyo, who declared a national holiday and hosted a state luncheon at the palace for him.

His adoring fans braved the morning tropical heat to throng the streets of Manila, cheering and honking horns as Pacquiao waved to them from a flatbed truck decorated with Filipino flags that wound through the capital.

He tossed red and white T-shirts that bore his picture and the slogan “King Of The Ring” into the crowd.

“The reception was tremendous,” Pacquiao said.

DAWSON DECISIONS TARVER AGAIN!!!

Sunday, May 10, 2009

IBF/IBO light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (28-0, 17 KOs) decisioned Antonio Tarver for the second time in as many years last night at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas the scores after twelve rounds were 116-112, 117-111, 117-111.

This fight was a more competitive match up than the first with Tarver pressing the action more while looking to counter over the Dawson jab, but Tarver who is known as "the king of rematches" was no match for the quicker, accurate Dawson. who used his piston like jab to keep Tarver from ever being able to set himself.

After the fight Dawson told reporters "I know I didn't have my best night, I know it wasn't it my best performance. I don't know how much of that had to do with Tarver having a good night.

"He put up a hell of a fight. He definitely took me off my game. My hats off to Antonio Tarver.

UNDERCARD

Lightweight Jose Guzman (7-0, 5 KOs) decisioned Jose Lugo (10-8-1,5 KOs) unanimously by scores of 59-55, 57-57, 58-56.

WEEKEND RESULTS!!!

McEWAN DECISIONS VERA TO RECORD THE BIGGEST WIN OF HIS CAREER SO FAR, SHUMENOV ADDS MITCHELL TO HIS IMPRESSIVE RECORD!!!

SATURDAY NIGHTS REULTS!!!

You may know Beibut Shumenov (8-0, 6 KOs) from our Top 10 Prospects for 2009 list and today he proved the reason why he sits on that list as he stopped former world champion Byron Mitchell (27-5-1, 20 KOs) in the fourth round at Khadjimukan Stadium, in Chimkent, Kazakhstan

Shumenov and Mitchell started the bout quick with no advantage being taken by either man over the first three rounds, in round four Beibut started to apply more pressure and up his workrate as he dominated and dropped Mitchell with a big combination, Mitchell stood up but it wasnt long before his corner had to throw in the towel to end the contest to save the former world champion.

Former IBF light middleweight champion Roman Karmazin (39-3-1, 25 KOs) stopped Luiz Augusto Dos Santos (24-16, 20 KOs) in the fourth round after a acuurate combination in the fourth left his corner with no option to pull thier fighter out of the bout.

Light heavyweight Gayrat “Gerry” Akhmedov (11-0-1, 7 KOs) scored a massive first-minute knockout over Brazilian Luzimar Gonzaga (27-5, 21 KOs).

Former WBO light welterweight champion DeMarcus Corley (34-11-1, 20 KOs) scored an eighth-round TKO over Sidney Siqueira (12-4-1, 7 KOs).

European cruiserweight champion Marko Huck (25-1, 20 KOs) defended his title via fifth round stoppage over Vitaly Rusal (23-1, 16 KOs) at the JAKO Arena in Bamberg, Germany. The end came when Huck trapped Rusal against the ropes while exploding with a brutal combination that left the referee with no option but to start an eight count against the challenger. The referee let the action continue but it was only a matter of time before he had to step in again to end proceedings after another Huck assault.

Cuban cruiserweight Yoan Pablo Hernandez (19-1, 11 KOs) scored a eight-round unanimous decision over Aaron Williams (19-2-1, 13 KOs) with the scores: 79-76, 80-72 and 78-74.

Alexander Abraham (25-0-1, 17 KOs) scored a fourth-round TKO over Magomed Abdurakhmanov (14-3, 7 KOs). Alexander is the younger brother of world champion Arthur.

Finnish heavyweight Robert Helenius scored a second-round knockout of Turkish Ozcan Cetinkaya (15-5-1, 9 KOs).

Super middleweight Sebastian Sonntag (7-0, 2 KOs) decisioned Titusz Szabo (3-33, 3 KOs) unanimously

FRIDAY NIGHTS RESULTS!!!

Unbeaten super middleweight Craig McEwan (15-0, 9 KOs) scored the biggest win of his career last night when he decisioned Brian Vera (16-3, 10 KOs) at Sunset Square in downtown Fort Worth, Texas. McEwan easily handled the heavy handed Vera and was in command throughout the bout taking a decision from the judges of 97-93, accross the board.

DAWSON V TARVER PREDICTIONS!!!

Friday, May 8, 2009

This saturday see's two of the best light heavyweight`s in the division going head to head in a rematch from their first match up in October 2008. In that fight "Bad" Chad Dawson easily handled Antonio Tarver over twelve rounds to record an easy decision, the same could happen this Saturday but for the fact Tarver has the record of never losing a rematch. We have seen him do it on more than one occasion in the past against fighters such as Roy Jones Jr, Glen Johnson and Eric Harding with only two blemishes left outstanding which is that of "The Executioner" Bernard Hopkins and of course "Bad" Chad Dawson which he will be looking to change this weekend. Chad on the other hand is by far the best the division has to offer, and in the ring he is a very gifted boxer with great athletism, awesome hand speed and the type of power to put you to sleep early trust me fight fans this isn't one you want to miss.

As well as this incredible match up we have a few bouts that may have been overlooked partly due to everyone on the globe still focusing their attention on last weekends match up between Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton. These match up's include another of Freddy Roach's fighters Craig McEwan who will be stepping up in class to fight the always difficult Brian Vera. McEwan is still unbeaten as a professional and is ticking over nicely holding a record at time of writing of 14 wins 0 losses with 9 Knockouts to his name. Brian Vera is fast becoming a fighter who holds the key to bigger pay days, many promoters have matched their up and coming stars against Vera with bad consequences. Last time out Vera lost via stoppage in the eighth round to the red hot prospect James Kirkland but before that he was seen stopping another prospect in Ireland's Andy Lee. This fight takes place on Friday night at Sundance Square, Fort Worth, Texas and is also a not to miss match up.

One of the fighters we thought would make an impact this year is Beibut Shumenov a fighter from Kazakhstan who have only fought seven times as a professional but one which his promoters are moving by the speed of light. Already he has faced and beaten the likes of Donell Wiggins and former world champion Montell Griffin he will be going head to head with another former champion Byron Mitchell the hard hitting Mitchell will gauge where this fighter lies and trust me dont blink because this one has knockout written all over it.

With these fights and many many more we have a great weekend in store for us.

WARD, MIRANDA QUOTES!!!

Thursday, May 7, 2009

On May 16th 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist Andre Ward will go head to head with the hard-hitting Edison Miranda in a The 12-round fight for Ward’s North American Boxing Organization (NABO) and North American Boxing Federation (NABF) super middleweight titles. This is a highly anticipated showdown with both men coming into the fight extremely confident and prepared for war. The fight will take place at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, and will be promoted by Goossen Tutor Promotions in association with Leonard Productions.

DAN GOOSSEN: “We’re looking at this as Andre’s coming out party, not only in Oakland, but to the world for 168-pound supremacy.

“Let’s face it; he’s taking on a tough nut to make his statement. But that’s what it’s all about. No risk, no reward. That’s the way that Andre has always conquered everything in his life, even leading up to the Gold Medal. I believe he’s going to be the preeminent 168-pounder in the world.”

EDISON MIRANDA: “I’ve prepared well for this fight. I’ve trained very hard. I know that Andre is going to be a very tough opponent, but I know I am going to walk away victorious after this fight.”

ANDRE WARD: “I want to thank my hometown and everybody that is involved and working really hard to put this together.

“I’m preparing like I always do, I’m staying focused like I always am. I’m going to win on May 16 for my hometown fans.”

Is Ward the best fighter you have faced in your career?

MIRANDA: “No, Andre is not the toughest fighter I’ve ever fought. Howard Eastman is.”

How will you beat Andre Ward?

MIRANDA: “I’m going to knock him out in the 10th round.”

Is Edison Miranda the toughest fighter that you’ve faced in your pro career?

WARD: “Absolutely, on paper. I put emphasis on paper. We won’t know until I get in the ring on May 16. I think I’m going to be a lot tougher than he thinks I’m going to be. I don’t have any predictions, but I can guarantee you this: I’m coming into this fight, even though I’m in my hometown, I’m the underdog in my mind. I’m always like that. Gold Medal aside, everything else aside, I’m coming in as the underdog. That’s how I prepared, that’s how my focus is. I’m going to shock a lot of people in this fight”

Could Miranda derail Ward’s momentum?

GOOSSEN: “Look, you’ve got two world class fighters fighting one another, so nothing is ever a foregone conclusion. But, we’ve got a lot of confidence in Andre Ward. Edison Miranda is a tough challenge, but I believe it’s going to bring out the best in Andre Ward. Saturday night, May 16 is when it’s all answered. We can sit here and talk until we’re blue in the face, but it doesn’t matter when that bell rings. We’ve got a lot of confidence in Andre. We believe he is going to win and win in an exciting fashion from the standpoint of showing his prominence in this division, but let’s get to Saturday, May 16.”

With this step up against Miranda, is there is a title shot coming soon?

WARD: “People are going to have opinions about my opponents and how tough they think they are. The bottom line is, we’ve take a steady climb up. I don’t think we’ve regressed anywhere in my career. We haven’t been fighting tomato cans. We’re fighting guys that have had ample time to prepare. They’re coming to win. I understand that each and every fight, guys are going to bring their ‘A’ game because they want that win on their resume.”

“Yeah, this is a step up, but at the same time this is right where we need to be. These are the kind of fights that bring the best out of great, and potentially great, fighters. You have to go through the Edison Mirandas of the division to prove that.”

Have you watched his fights?

WARD: If you’ve seen one of Miranda’s fights, you’ve seen them all. Miranda is going to be Miranda and I’m going to be Andre Ward. At the end of the night, May 16, we’ll see what happens.”

Are you excited to fight in your hometown?

WARD: “This is an event. This is bigger than a fight. This is what my team was talking about when we were trying to figure out when was the right time to fight in Oakland and against what opponent.”

“I think this is absolutely the right time and the right opponent. This is a guy that a lot of people are afraid of based on his tactics that he tries to give outside of the ring and even his style inside the ring. But we’re focused and we’ll do it in my backyard. In terms of excitement, we’re very excited, but I can’t be distracted and put the carpet before the horse. We’ll take care of business and then we’ll enjoy everything else when it’s all said and done.”

Is fighting in Oakland an advantage?

WARD: “Fighting in your backyard could either be a gift of a curse. I’ve never been one to get caught up in the lights, camera, action and that whole deal. I don’t really get caught up in the hoopla before the fight. I’m just a steady kind of person. I’m steady and I’m consistent in terms of the way I approach each fight. Whether I’m fighting in the Olympics or I’m fighting at Tachi Palace, it doesn’t matter. I have a job to do.”

“I’ve been preparing for nights like this since I was nine years old. I can’t let fighting in my hometown detour me in terms of my focus. Trust me, there’s going to be a lot of energy in the building. I think a lot of people in Oakland are excited about this and I’m going to deliver on May 16.”

Does Miranda’s tactics bother you?

WARD: “I don’t fear anything in that ring. Miranda is going to be Miranda inside and outside that ring and, I’m going to be Andre Ward. At the end of the night we’ll see who is standing and who’s talking the loudest.”

“In terms of his tactics, I’ve said it before, Miranda is a bully and I don’t like when people try to bully people. He’s going to find out that I’m a whole lot tougher and a whole lot nastier inside that ring than he’s anticipating. It’s going to be a different type of fight than he’s anticipating. I’ve been on that canvas and I’ve gotten back up and come back to win. Whatever he wants to bring, bring it, and I’m going to be ready on May 16.”

How has your difficult (situation with your mother) impacted you as a fighter?

MIRANDA: “No, it hasn’t affected me at all, my past with my mother. What I can say is that anytime that I had a loss in the ring it made me more determined to win my next fight. That’s exactly what I’m going to do on May 16.”

Asked to address his weight issues since he fought at 176 pounds in March and has to fight at 168 pounds against Ward?

MIRANDA: “I’m at 168 right now. I have no problem right now. I’m eating fine and normally, so it won’t be an issue.”

Do you have anything to prove in this fight?

WARD: “To me, this fight is totally about respect. It’s about respect from the media, respect from the entire 168-pound division and just respect in general. There’s always something to prove with each fight. The stakes are higher, absolutely.”

“I know a lot of people don’t think I’m going to win this fight. I think a lot of people get caught up in the whole Miranda hoopla. They get caught up in his punching power and stuff like that. But, I’m not buying it. I respect him for his strengths in the ring, but we’re coming to win. We’re coming to do our job each and every fight. This fight is about respect, and this fight is about proving that I not only belong but that I have aspirations to be the best in this division.

What can this fight do for you if it turns out the way you want it to?

WARD: “This fight is everything. This is going to be a major leap forward or a major leap backward. It’s going to put the winner in title contention and, I know for myself, it’s going to put me in a mandatory spot (for a title challenge). So this is a must win. It goes without saying that we have to win this fight.”

Did you see the (Carl) Froch- (Jermain) Taylor fight (April 25 on SHOWTIME)?

WARD: “I thought it was a good fight. You’ve got to give Froch respect for coming over here and putting his title on the line. He’s 30 years old so he understands that he doesn’t have much time and his window of opportunity is pretty short. I’m sure that had a lot to do with him coming over here (from England).”

“I expected a little more from Jermain Taylor. I don’t understand what’s going on with his conditioning. It was unfortunate the way he went out. I would have liked to see him hold on and get that belt back. He wasn’t able to hold on, but, once again, you’ve got to respect Carl Froch for what he did in that fight. His determination pulled it out for him.”

When asked if he had any words about Froch possibly being his next opponent:

WARD: “I’m locked in on this fight. I’m eating, sleeping and drinking the guy that’s in front of me. When it’s over, we can talk about that. But I’ve really had few to no talks about what lies next for me.”

WARD’S closing comments: “I can’t wait to see what comes out of me May 16. It’s my time and that’s just the bottom line. As far as Oakland is concerned, let’s do something positive. Let’s buy our tickets, let’s come out and let’s show that good guys do finish first, not last.”

GOOSSEN: “This is the future of our sport and what better people to go out there and represent us than athletes that we can look up to.”

Are you in touch with your mother now?

MIRANDA: “I do talk to my mother; I’ve always talked to her. The question isn’t about my mother or my father, the matter at hand is Andre Ward. I can talk about my mother or my father after the fight, but right now the only thing on my mind is Andre Ward.”

Do you respect Andre Ward?

MIRANDA: “I have respect for Andre outside of the ring as a man. But inside the ring, I don’t have respect for him. In fact, I don’t have respect for any other fighters inside the ring. If I had to say I respected somebody, it would be Bernard Hopkins. He’s been such an example for me. I really can say that he’s the only boxer that I have respect for.

GOOSSEN Closing Comments:

“Andre gets into town Sunday. Monday, Miranda comes in. We’re going to have an open workout on Tuesday, I believe, at the City Center. We’ll have the final press conference on Thursday in the City Center and we’ll have the weigh in on Friday at the Plaza at City Center. We’re doing everything open to the public. We’re going to go out there and put on a great show for Oakland and all of the Bay Area.”

KATSIDIS STILL INTERESTED IN HATTON BOUT!!!

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

Michael Katsidis’ trainer and manager, Brendon Smith, remains hopeful that Ricky Hatton will stave off thoughts of retirement and agree to fight his lightweight star.

Former light-welterweight king Hatton is contemplating his future following Saturday’s devastating second-round knockout defeat at the hands of Manny Pacquiao.

Smith revealed that he spoke with Team Hatton about the possibility of a bout with Katsidis before the Pacquiao loss and, despite the savage nature of what unfolded in Las Vegas, is still of the opinion that The Hitman can be tempted into one more fight.

"I believe it's still a very good chance of happening. Knowing Ricky, I don't think he would want to finish his career like that," he is quoted as saying by wwos.com.au.

Smith also revealed that Katsidis would be willing to travel to Hatton’s native Manchester in a desperate attempt to remove at least one major stumbling block from the proposed negotiations.

"We are not concerned about going to Ricky Hatton's backyard because we've taken our show on the road for the last two years," he said.

"Michael has a fan base all over the world."

DE LA HOYA / sCHAEFER OFFERS SUPPORT TO HATTON!!!

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

Ricky Hatton has been told he can fight on by Oscar De La Hoya.

It is thought after Saturday's devastating knockout to Manny Pacquiao that Hatton may decide to call it a day but Boxing Superstar Oscar De La Hoya has poured cold water on that suggestion and told reporters yesterday that this doesnt have to be the end of the line for Ricky Hatton.

De La Hoya, who finally quit earlier this year at the age of 35, said: "It doesn't have to be the end. Ricky's young and still has what it takes. He can still have a bright future. Look, I have six losses in my career. Just because you lose, it isn't the end for you. It's about how you come back. When Ricky lost to Floyd Mayweather Junior, people thought it was the end. I'm sure Ricky felt a bit depressed. But he came back and beat Paul Malignaggi in some style. I thought Paulie was going to give him trouble but he cut straight through him. It's just a matter of how you come back and play it smart."

Richard Schaeffer, the Golden Boy Promotions chief executive, claims the biggest box office fighter over the past couple of years must not rush to hang up his gloves.

Schaeffer said: "It's really up to Ricky. Look, Oscar lost a lot of big fights but his fans were still there and the pay-per-view numbers were still there.

"I think it is the way you lose and the way you perform. If you give your heart and end up coming short, I don't think that's the end of a superstar. But ultimately that's only a decision Ricky can take.

"Ricky really is a superstar of the sport. It's not always win or lose. If you have that fan base then, of course, winning is important but winning isn't everything."

After spending Saturday night in hospital having a brain scan, Hatton was feeling better when he appeared at a pool party at the MGM Grand 24 hours after his crushing defeat.

He has planned a trip to his villa in Spain to mull over his future. His family are leaving him to make up his own mind, but after witnessing him being knocked unconscious would not be sorry if he retired.

Hatton, 30, had hoped to fight in Manchester later this year against Michael Katsidis of Australia.

HATTON: I COULD`VE BEATEN HIM

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

Ricky Hatton yesterday told various reporters yesterday that he felt he could have beaten Manny Pacquiao if some things played out differently.

The Hitman said “If we’d have gone a few rounds it could have been different. But he caught me with practically the first punch he threw.

“I’d rather have been knocked out in two rounds than have somebody that has outclassed me for the full duration. Maybe it could have been different, but that’s boxing. I’ve lost twice and I’ve lost to the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.

“It’s not a bad way of looking at it, but I’m devastated. I would not have put my money on that happening.” Trainer Floyd Mayweather Snr has called for Hatton to retire and there are claims the American and English assistant trainer Lee Beard did not see eye-to-eye.

Hatton’s preparations have been questioned and he admitted there were issues in the build-up. He said: “There was things that could have been different but I’d rather not talk about it.”

PACQUIAO NEEDS TWO ROUNDS TO DEFEAT HATTON BY KNOCKOUT!!!

Sunday, May 3, 2009

Pacman Annihilates Hatton in Two!!!Manny Pacquiao (49-3-2, 37 Ko's) showed the world why many consider him the pound 4 pound king as he turned in his most dominating performance of his career so far on Saturday night, knocking down Ricky Hatton (45-2-0, 32 Ko's) twice before stopping him with a ferocious looping left hand in the final seconds of the second round at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas.

The first round began with Hatton coming out very aggressively looking to pressure and rough up the filipino but Pacquiao was right on his game showing amazing hand speed mixed with pin point precision punching as he caught Hatton flush with a right hook that put him on the canvas. Hatton made it to his feet on the count of eight but was down again towards the end of the round after Pacquiao let his hands go again hitting the Englishman with a flurry of blazing punches. Hatton made it to his feet again as he was saved by the bell at the end of the first. Hatton attempted to carry the fight to Pacquiao in the second round but Pacquiao sized him up for a big punch. It finally came at the end of the round when he landed a left cross that flattened the English fighter. Referee Kenny Bayless took one look at Hatton and declared the fight over at 2:59 of the round “I didn’t have to count,” Bayless said after the fight.

“I’m surprised the fight was so easy,” Pacquiao said afterwards “He was wide open for the right hook. I knew he would be looking for my left.”

“The fight was no surprise to me,” Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach, said. “We know he always pumps his hands before he throws a punch. He’s a sucker for the right hook.”

Hatton's trainer Floyd Mayweather Snr later told Sky Box Office that he would suggest his fighter retire "At the end of the day it's his decision. "He tried twice. He failed twice. He lost to my son [Floyd Mayweather Jnr] and to lose to someone below that [Pacquiao], it's time to leave the ring."

WBC super featherweight champion Humberto Soto (48-7, 31KOs) knocked out Benoit Gaudet (20-2, 7KOs) in the ninth round.

Super middleweight prospect Daniel Jacobs (16-0, 14 KOs) won an eight-round unanimous decision over a very game Michael Walker (19-2-2, 12 KOs).

After almost a year layoff due to a detached retina, 2004 Mexican Olympian Abner Mares (18-0, 11KOs) forced Jonathan Perez (14-6, 11 KOs) to quit on his stool before the seventh round.

Omar Chavez, son of legendary Mexican champion Julio Cesar Chavez, started off the night at the MGM Grand Arena with a quick victory over journeyman Tyler Ziolowski with a second-round body shot knockout to improve to (15-0-1, 11 KOs).

Carlos Abregu (27-0, 22 KOs) had to survive two knockdowns before stopping Irving Garcia (17-4-3, 8 KOs) on Friday night at the Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, California. In an absolute war of a fight the unbeaten Abregu was on the canvas in rounds one and four, but Abregu was able to get back on track in round four dropping Gracia in the process with the challenger unable to continue.

Lightweight Marvin Quintero (16-1, 12 KOs) scored a unanimous decision over Wes Ferguson (20-4-1, 6 KOs). Scores over the eight rounds were 78-74, 79-73, 78-74.

Celestino” Pelenchin” Caballero (32-2, 22 KOs) barely kept hold of his titles tonight beating Jeffrey Mathebula (22-2-2,12 KOs) via split decision. Cabellero started the better but I think it may have been a case of taking Mathebula too lightly as he seemed to tire in the later part of the bout which Mathebula was able to take hold of. The scores of the judges were as follows: Patricia Jarman (USA) 116-112, Hector Afu (Panama) 116-112 for Caballero while Deaon Dwarte of South Africa had it 116-112 for Mathebula.

RETURN OF THE KING - MAYWEATHER JR RETURNS!!!

Sunday, May 3, 2009

Mayweather is Back!!!Former Pound 4 Pound King Floyd Mayweather Jr today announced his comeback fight last night after 17 months away from the ring. The ever confident Mayweather Jr confirmed he will enter the ring to face what could turn out his stiffest test yet against the WBA lightweight champ Juan Manuel Marquez on July 18th.

"I'm coming back to claim what's mine," Mayweather said. "I'm the king. I left on top. I come back on top. I'm back to claim my crown. I've never been beat. How can I not still be the king? One day somebody might shut my mouth but right now I'm the top dog."

"I'm back because the sport of boxing needs Floyd Mayweather, Somebody has got to keep the sport running so why not me?"

WBA Lightweight champion Marquez will move up in weight for the bout, likely to be staged at a limit of 143 or 144 pounds even though Mayweather would not say exactly what catch weight would be used.

"A small man is never going to knock me out," Mayweather said. "He's a good small man. I'm a great big man."

Joking he was "coming fresh from the club - the strip club", Mayweather brushed off any notion of ring rust after the layoff. "I'm in tremendous shape. When it's time to fight I will be ready mentally as well as physically," Mayweather said "I've just got to adapt. I've been working out every day. My first day I worked I boxed seven, eight rounds."

"I've been off a couple years and I'm still the biggest draw," Mayweather said. Heavyweight to 105 pounds, they all want to fight me. I'm the cash cow."

Mayweather said he expects to fight twice a year "If I can stick them up three times I will," he said. "I come in black because it's a bank robbery. I need the cash."

When it comes to future foes, Mayweather dismissed Hatton as already beaten and Pacquiao as having lost twice to Marquez, even though the Filipino star had a draw and a controversial decision victory over the Mexican in their fights.

"I'm not worried about that. I don't have to call fighters out," Mayweather said "I don't know what I want to do. Last year I made $US8 million dollars chilling."

Mayweather took part in wrestling shows and "Dancing with the Stars" during his hiatus before starting talk of a return in March.

Regarding reports of tax trouble, Mayweather joked about the US Internal Revenue Service.

"We've all got to pay the IRS. I like to take my time and play them slow," he said "I'm fine. Everything is paid for. I'm OK, with or without boxing."

Playing the foil to Mayweather next is Marquez, who has been training the past two weeks and is at 145 pounds now.

"I'm well prepared," Marquez said "I believe that I will be able to adapt to his style of moving constantly and counterpunching. To be the best you have to beat the best and right now the best fighter is Floyd Mayweather."

TCB'S PACQUIAO V HATTON PREDICTIONS!!!

Friday, May 1, 2009

The eyes of the boxing world will be fixated on the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday to see two of the biggest names in boxing go head to head in this massive bout. Pound 4 Pound king Manny Pacquiao will jump up in weight class to try and write history as he challenges the hard hitting Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton. Both men are global superstars with tickets selling out within a few hours of going on sale and I for one am already counting down the minutes.

Germany will provide the location for our Big Bantamweight clash on Saturday. Anselmo Moreno of Panama will be going head to head with the formidable Ukraine Wladimir Sidorenko in a rematch. Their first fight was a year ago in 2008 in which Moreno scored a wide unanimous decision. At the time many thought this could provide a mis match with a lot of the betting money going on the champion at the time Sidorenko, this time the fans know all about Moreno but will the result be a different one?

To see where our prediction's eventually went please either click this link.... or go to Predictions from the navigational bar at the top of this screen
