FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR |
|
THE KING IS BACK!!!
Although he took a 21 month hiatus from the sport, In our opinion there isn't a fighter on the planet with the kind of skill set of the pretty boy and his performance against a tough opponent in Juan Manuel Marquez was enough for him to retake his spot as Boxing's Pound 4 Pound king. |

Many
will disagree with our decision to take Floyd over Manny and Pacquiao
will still be seen at the top of most people's P4P list, but the choice
I made was due to my belief that Floyd is slightly a better overall
fighter. Manny has had a fantastic couple of years with wins over the
likes of Ricky Hatton, Oscar De La Hoya, Juan Manuel Marquez and Miguel
Cotto which has made this decision more than difficult, with a potential
super fight with Mayweather down the line, hopefully the ranking will
be settled once and for all. |

JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ |

Juan Manuel Marquez suffered at the hands of Mayweather Jr but I don't believe that to be enough to drop Marquez from the our top three. His great stoppage wins over former world champions Joel Casamayor and Juan Diaz are enough to keep the Mexican from falling down the list. |

Miguel was on a the short end of a beatdown against Manny Pacquiao but showed a warriors heart throughout, I still have him high on my list because I believe he deserves the place from previous victories. Look for a strong comeback from Miguel in 2010 which could potentially be his last year in the sport. |

BERNARD HOPKINS |

The
way things are going I am convinced you will still be seeing Hopkins
here until he is fifty years old, I'm joking of course but what is no
joke is Hopkins the fighter. He seems to be getting better with age
and his last outing proved this with a great victory over Kelly Pavlik.
The only problem now seems to be viable opponents. |

The
wars against Raul Marquez have definitely taken their toll on Israel
and as a result of the surgery he has had to have to clear some scar
tissue and recuperate from cuts etc as kept him out of the ring for
over a year. Look for Israel to come back strong in 2010 with a possible
match up with either Juan Manuel Lopez or even a fourth match up with
Raul Marquez. |

Sugar's
form over the last four years have been truly stunning which as seen
him beat the likes of Fernando Vargas (twice), the always awkward Luis
Collazo, the wild man from Nicaragua Ricardo Mayorga and of course his
master piece in the stoppage of Antonio Margarito. Many have Shane higher
on their list and a good win over Mayweather will push him a little
further on ours. |

JUAN MANUEL LOPEZ |

Juanma
is one of if not THE best young fighters in boxing at the moment and
has been red hot throughout 2008/2009. The unbeaten WBO champion already
boasts wins over former world champion Daniel Ponce De Leon and Gerry
Penalosa and at the age of just 26 is scary to think about this fighters
potential. A match up in 2010/2011 against Israel Vasquez is supposedly
on the cards which should make for an absolute great fight. Look for
Lopez to make strides in the P4P ranking in the next couple of years. |

EDWIN VALERO |
|
His performance against Antonio DeMarco was enough
for me to put the Venezualan Phenom in my Top 10 list. I know that
many of boxing insiders have gone for other options but Valero showed
the world on Saturday that he is not only a tremendous puncher but
a fighter who can outbox the very best his division as to offer. Look
for Edwin to take Giant steps throughout this list as I envisage a
brilliant 2010.

Chad is currently in the process of clearing up the Light Heavyweight
division which has seen him already beat the likes of former ruler Antonio
Tarver, Glencoffe Johnson and Thomasz Adamek. The only problem now lies
with the competition left or lack of it. Chad has beaten the best the
division as to offer so where does he go from here? |
